Out-of-Town SXSW Volunteer Registration

There are 2 different volunteer types and crews: All Conference and Music Festival.
Prospective volunteers should know which type of volunteer, All Conference or Music Festival, they would like to sign-up for before beginning their registration. Each volunteer type has different tasks, operating times and perks. For more information about All Conference and Music Festival Volunteers, visit the SXSW Volunteer website.
All-Conference Volunteers are eligible to work on up to 2 of the 50+ All Conference Crews, which operate throughout SXSWedu and the 10 days of SXSW. Descriptions of All Conference Crews can be found here. All-Conference Volunteers are responsible for scheduling their own hours with crew managers, and must commit to a minimum of 24 hours. All Conference Volunteers are eligible for Volunteer Film, Interactive, Music, and Platinum Badges. Perks are earned based on the number of hours worked.
Music Festival Volunteers are eligible to work on ONE of the Music Festival Crews, which operate only during the days and nights of the SXSW Music Festival, March 13 - 19. Most Music Festival Volunteers MUST be age 21+. A list of Music Festival Crews can be found here. Music Festival Volunteers must work a minimum of 24 hours, and are eligible for Volunteer Music and Platinum Badges at a reduced hours requirement. Perks are earned based on the number of hours worked.
*Volunteer Platinum Badges are reserved for returning volunteers. Returning volunteers that have never earned a Volunteer Platinum Badge and would like to do so in 2017, will need to have a Platinum Badge Nomination Form completed by their prior year's crew manager, or a staff member. Platinum Nomination Forms will be available at the volunteer calls. Out-of-Town Volunteers can contact an Event Staffing & Resources staff member (email@example.com) to assist with their nomination.
Early OOT Volunteer Applications will be accepted starting on November 8, 2016 through January 6, 2017. Priority will be given to those who submit their application by the January 6, 2017 deadline. Applications not received by the early deadline will be processed after the SXSW Volunteer Calls. Many crews will fill during the calls. Submit by the early deadline to ensure the best opportunity for a spot on your desired crews.
OOT Volunteer who submit an application will receive an email with crew contact information on the following dates:
Early Deadline: January 11, 2017 Post Deadline: 2nd Week of February, 2017
OOT Volunteers are responsible for contacting crew managers via email to create a schedule. OOT Volunteers must arrange to arrive in Austin before their first shift with enough time to check-in with Volunteer Central at the Austin Convention Center, receive credentials, and volunteer t-shirts prior to the start of the first shift . Please take note that your perk is available prior to the completion of the hours requirement. Arrive in Austin with plenty of time to enjoy your badge!

Registrations will not be approved with invalid information.
If under the age of 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian consent to the Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability. The signed Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability must be submitted via email, mail or in-person to the SXSW Event Staffing & Resources Department prior to participation in any SXSW event. The Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability can be obtained by emailing email@example.com.
