At Shiftboard we take the security of your data very seriously. As such, we have recently upgraded all of our SSL certificates and HTTPS settings to ensure we continue to be on the forefront of Internet security.

In order to ensure that all of our users are receiving the highest level of security possible and to comply with the changes coming in the next version of Chrome, we were forced to make a tough decision. That decision was to stop supporting old web browsers and mobile phones. And to be clear, we do mean older.

There are far too many supported platforms for us to list them all, but for our 5 most common operating systems, we support:

  • iOS 3 or higher
  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) or higher
  • Windows Phone 7 or higher
  • Windows XP SP3 or higher
  • OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or higher

So what does this mean for you? It means if you have an old Android device running Cupcake or Froyo, it’s no longer going to work with Shiftboard. If you have an old flip phone that you’re trying to use, it likely won’t work with Shiftboard either.

More importantly, as other sites begin to roll out changes in anticipation of Chrome’s new requirements, they will also drop support for these older platforms.

If you’re on an outdated device, we strongly recommend you upgrade. Feel free to point to this article to explain why you need to go buy that shiny new phone that just came out.
