Volunteering for the Film Society

The Film Society uses volunteers year-round in addition to during the San Francisco International Film Festival. We schedule most of our volunteers using the SFIFF Volunteer Shiftboard. If you would like to join our team, fill out the Online Volunteer Application to get registered and begin using the SFIFF Shiftboard.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, ranging from students to retirees. We provide a positive, respectful and friendly environment for people who love film and want to help create exciting events that celebrate cinema. Qualified volunteers have a love for film, understand the importance of being reliable and enjoy dealing with the public.

There are year-round opportunities to help with the Film Society. Please specify that you are available year-round in the application. This will put you on the notification list for volunteer opportunities happening throughout the year such as education screenings, office assistance and special events.

Upcoming Events

The San Francisco Film Society is gearing up for its fall season and we need your help!

Our Education Department will be presenting screenings to area youth that use film as a positive learning tool. Check under our Education Team for upcoming screenings.

We often have a need for short term General Office Volunteers with day-long projects at our offices in the Presidio. Please sign up to be part of our "General Office" if you would like to be part of our organization. Various tasks require different skill levels.

Film in the Fog is coming up shortly. We will be screening "CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON" on Saturday, Sept 29 on the lawn behind the Main Post Theatre in the Presidio. We need help setting up chairs, handing out flyers and serving up freshly popped popcorn! These positions are located under "General Volunteering"

Our Annual Fund Campaign will be held on October 1st in the Palm Room of the Film Centre in the Presidio. We need volunteers, age 21 or older to help us set up this special party which looks ahead to the future of the Film Society and how we can accomplish our goals. There will be light set up and tear down, as well as light food and beverage service, check-in and coat check. Proper dress is required. You can find these job descriptions in the Special Events team.

San Francisco International Animation Festival and New Italian Cinema will be held back to back this year at Landmark's Embarcadero Theatre on November 8-18th. This is where we held NICE last year and we are happy to be back for another year and have our Animation festival there as well. We need help with Load In/Load Out, Theatre Operations, Will Call and Special Events. You can click on any one of those team for more information.
